WHAT A STORY!

«What a story!» The gallery's founder, Enrico Navarra (1953-2020), always concluded his stories and anecdotes about his professional life and the art dealing business in general with this exclamation. It could be the subject of a book, perhaps one day... In the meantime:

For over 30 years, Galerie Enrico Navarra has exclusively specialized in the secondary market, primarily developing its business with international colleagues. It is particularly around the work of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat that we have had the opportunity to leverage all our expertise, which ranges from gallery exhibitions to museum shows, including the publication of monographs and catalogs, and communication aimed at both the general public and professionals, institutions, and private collectors.

Aware that he needed to maintain the level of fame and reputation thus achieved, but above all because he had an unconventional temperament, Enrico Navarra has always taken care to position the gallery as one of the most dynamic and innovative. Thus, for over 30 years, it has organized major exhibitions and published over 400 art books and catalogs. It has dedicated more than 30 exhibitions to Jean-Michel Basquiat around the world, collaborated with numerous colleagues, and played a role in the markets and recognition of many artists. These include Marc Chagall, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Bernar Venet, Jean-Pierre Raynaud, César, Arman, and Zhang Xiaogang... It has also collaborated with leading architects such as Tadao Ando, Rudy Riccitto, and Jean Nouvel, and designers such as Ron Arad and Marc Berthier...

The gallery has also been developing its editorial collection since 2001 Made by, dedicated to emerging contemporary art scenes.

Since 2020, under the leadership of Doriano Navarra, the son of the gallery’s founder, the gallery has reaffirmed its commitment to the secondary market for the most iconic artists in its history. It has also made a notable entry into the primary market with artists such as Renk, Matt McCormick, Enoc Pérez, and Brandon Deener… It further reaffirms that architecture and design are part of its DNA, as is its expertise in exhibition events (Keith Haring at the Citadel of Saint-Tropez) or even unexpected thematic exhibitions (Pokémon). Above all, Doriano Navarra was determined to bring to fruition the project initiated by his father: Villa Navarra.
