KEITH HARING
Keith Haring at the Citadel of Saint-Tropez
01.07 – 15.11.2021
Citadel of Saint-Tropez

7 sculptures including 6 monumental ones and the Pop Shop Tokyo which is an immersive experience in an original work by the artist... Here is what the city of Saint-Tropez and Galerie Enrico Navarra offer you to see and experience during this exhibition. This exceptionally high-quality event has received the benevolent approval of the representatives of the Keith Haring Foundation and most of the assembled works come from private collections or international galleries. While all of the sculptures have been exhibited before, the opportunity to admire them in such a context will make your journey and appreciation both unparalleled and unprecedented.

An exhibition catalogue will be published especially for the occasion by Galerie Enrico Navarra with the assistance of Éditions Sébastien Moreu. Texts of Doriano Navarra, Lio Malca or even Tony Shafrazi will introduce you to Haring's universe.

Then, through the catalog of in-situ works, photographs of their summer environment—the Citadel and its collections, iconic images of this City, certainly more authentic back then than it is famous now, its bold nature interspersed with quotes from the artist, critics, or friends about his work, and others from prominent figures of Saint-Tropez evoking the little fishing port... thus Maupassant, Gréco,
Sagan, Bardot, and even Pink Floyd will host the rhythmic and colorful dance of the American's works.

A bit of summer, a bit of love, sunshine and the calm sea, music and art, and the memory of the long winter months that we all lived through is already fading.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born in 1958 in Pennsylvania, Keith Haring moved to New York in 1978 and rose to fame with his chalk drawings in the subway. The radiant baby, the barking dog, dancing figures: his universal language addresses life, death, technology and the fight against AIDS. He opened the Pop Shop in 1986 and died in 1990, aged 31. Galerie Enrico Navarra presented Keith Haring at the Citadelle de Saint-Tropez (2021) and Techno-Primitive Iconography (2024).
